Seasoned Skewers Will Spice Up the Season
Just because summer's over, that doesn't mean that cooking with
Seasoned Skewers is, too. Seasoned
Skewers are great for cooking indoors as well. Of course, if you're
in a mild climate, outdoor grilling can be done all year long;
or if you have a gas grill and live where the temperatures are
chilly, crank on the grill and run back inside while it heats up.
But if the outdoor elements are just a bit too much to head out
to the patio, then try one of those great grill pans that you put
right over your range burner. Another option for indoor cooking
is the oh-so-popular George Foreman grill.
Seasoned Skewers are also great used in the oven. Turn your oven
up to 450ºF to let it preheat while you skewer large prawns
or chunks of veggies, brush them with a little olive oil, then
throw them in on a sheet pan. Turn when halfway cooked. For a really
delicious roasted chicken, poke four or five skewers into the meatiest
parts of the bird, then rub down the outside with some kosher salt
and pepper. Pop the chicken into a 400°F oven and roast till
the bird's internal temperature is 165°F when probed at the
meaty part of the inner thigh. Let rest 10 minutes; then carve
up a scrumptiously seasoned chicken for a tasty dinner.
Now let's talk turkey. Everyone has their family-favorite ways
with this big bird, but why not try a new twist? Our Citrus Rosemary
or Garlic Herb Skewers can add a delectable flavor to your holiday
bird. Just insert them into the meaty parts of the turkey: the
breast, leg and thigh. I usually use about ten skewers for a 12-16
pounder. Let the turkey sit for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight,
refrigerated, before roasting. When your bird is done, keep the
skewers in while it rests, then remove before carving.
And for a festive side dish, our Honey Bourbon Seasoned Baked
Yams with Brown Sugar Butter are sure to be a crowd-pleaser. The
yams are microwaved for a few minutes to soften them up so our
Honey Bourbon Seasoned Skewer is easily poked through. Then we
roast them till tender and serve them with Brown Sugar Butter.
The flavor is amazing!
